Union Minister and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay launched a sharp attack on the Congress, alleging that the party no longer represents the interests of India. Referring to the controversy surrounding Vande Mataram, he said every Indian should observe the conduct of Congress leaders on the national song. He said Vande Mataram is not merely a song but a salutation to Mother India and played an important role in the freedom movement. Sanjay stressed that understanding India’s history, culture and traditions is an essential part of patriotism. He also said everyone has a responsibility to respect laws passed by Parliament. On the NEET issue, he said the Centre was taking action against alleged irregularities and that the accused were being investigated.
Sanjay also made several allegations against the Congress and BRS in Telangana. He claimed that the two parties had an understanding behind the scenes, while asserting that the BJP had never contested elections or shared power with the BRS. He questioned what action had been taken on allegations previously raised by the Congress government against the BRS over drugs, phone tapping, the Formula car race, power purchases and the Kaleshwaram project. He also criticised the implementation of the Congress government’s six guarantees and claimed public dissatisfaction was growing. Sanjay said the BJP would contest independently and eventually come to power in Telangana under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
