India Held to a Draw in Hockey World Cup

India’s women’s hockey team began their Hockey World Cup title campaign with a draw. In an exciting Pool D encounter on Sunday, India were held to a 2-2 draw by China. The Indian team looked on course for victory after dominating for much of the match, but China found an equaliser in the latter stages to force a draw.

Navneet Kaur scored for India in the 8th minute, while Deepika added another in the 26th minute. Zhang Ying scored China’s first goal in the 14th minute, followed by Ma Ning’s equaliser in the 39th minute. India will next face South Africa on the 18th. In the men’s tournament, India will take on England in their second match on Monday.
