The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly sessions will continue until August 20, as decided by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC). The meeting, chaired by Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu at the Assembly on Monday, was attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, ministers Payyavula Keshav and Nandendla Manohar, Government Chief Whip G.V. Anjaneyulu and BJP Legislature Party leader Vishnu Kumar Raju. The committee discussed introducing the Dedicated Commission report on BC reservations in local bodies. A decision is likely after the Cabinet discusses the report on Tuesday. The government is also set to introduce bills replacing nine ordinances during the session.
Meanwhile, no consensus was reached on the proceedings of the Legislative Council. The BAC meeting, chaired by Council Chairman Moshen Raju, ended inconclusively after the ruling and opposition sides disagreed over the agenda. Minister Payyavula Keshav proposed discussions on irrigation, drinking water supply, the impact of El Niño on agriculture, alleged irregularities in the Group-1 recruitment process during the previous YSRCP government and Mega DSC-2025. Opposition Leader Botsa Satyanarayana insisted that the DSC issue be taken up on Tuesday itself. As neither side backed down, the meeting ended midway. Another BAC meeting will be held after Question Hour on Tuesday to finalise the Council’s business.
