A draft electoral roll released by election officials has revealed a major reduction in the number of voters across Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. An average of 37.3% of votes have been deleted across the three districts. The combined voter count has fallen from 1.14 crore as of June 10 to 71 lakh. Officials said notices will be issued to another 38.93 lakh voters.
Booth-level officers will distribute notices from August 18 to September 16. From October 15, officials will verify the identity documents submitted by voters before deciding whether their names should remain on the rolls. In LB Nagar, only 55.56% of voter records have been digitised, while more than 60% of voters in Quthbullapur and Kukatpally remain unmapped.
