Allegations of irregular approvals involving a purportedly unauthorised layout in Mallampet have become a major talking point. It is alleged that approvals were granted before the merger of the municipalities. The GLC layout, spread across around 14.5 acres in Survey Nos. 170/3, 170/4 and 170/5, reportedly came under scrutiny over alleged violations. More than 200 structures were allegedly identified as unauthorised, with plot numbers such as A1, B1, C1 and D1 reportedly created for them. Allegations of official negligence and political interference have also emerged.
The disputed properties were allegedly granted approvals in the past, following which mortgage registrations continued. Demands are now growing for an inquiry into alleged unauthorised layouts, villa constructions and questionable registrations in Survey Nos. 170/1, 170/3, 170/4 and 170/5. According to details cited from the official website, certain plot numbers were allegedly created without proper approval, while another 16 applications were kept pending under shortfall requirements. Authorities are being urged to conduct a comprehensive probe and take action if violations are established.
