On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar announced a fellowship in memory of his father, Professor Ramesh Tendulkar. The initiative will provide financial support every year to one medical student pursuing an MD, with the aim of encouraging young doctors and helping them pursue specialised training. The fellowship is being offered in collaboration with the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation and Inga Health Foundation.
One MD student will be selected annually for specialised training in cleft and craniofacial care in Srinagar. Recalling his father’s influence, Tendulkar said Ramesh Tendulkar saw more in him than just his passion for cricket and gave him the freedom to discover his own path. He said his father believed education creates opportunities and expressed happiness that the fellowship would carry forward that belief by helping others.
