Nepal Rescue Mission Brings Hope.. Two More Lives Saved

Amid the devastation caused by floods and landslides in Nepal, rescue teams achieved two major breakthroughs on the tenth day of the search operation. A Chinese national trapped inside a hydropower project tunnel was rescued alive by a joint team of the Nepal Army and South Korean disaster experts. The man had been trapped inside a 225-metre-long tunnel and was safely brought out after rescuers cleared mud and debris. He was subsequently shifted to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

In another major rescue, 64-year-old Chandrika Shrestha was pulled alive from her home after it was buried under mud and debris in Nuwakot district. The massive disaster followed floods and landslides triggered after a glacier collapse on August 26. More than 1,300 people have reportedly died, while over 5,000 remain missing. Rescue teams continue their search at hydropower projects and other affected areas in the hope of finding more survivors.
