A joint operation by the Special Operations Team (SOT), Special Branch (SB) of Malkajgiri, and the Hyderabad Cricket Association has exposed an IPL ticket fraud racket in Hyderabad. The gang allegedly posed as judges, government officials, and representatives from prestigious institutions, making calls to secure match tickets. Suspicion arose after unusual calls were received, prompting HCA Secretary Manne Jeevan Reddy to alert Malkajgiri Commissioner Sumathi, leading to a coordinated crackdown.
The accused reportedly used forged letters in the names of the PMO, Governor’s Office, and cricket bodies like the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association and Mumbai Cricket Association to obtain tickets. HCA officials laid a trap by offering tickets, enabling SOT police to catch the gang red-handed while attempting to sell them in the black market. The prime suspect Ashok has been taken into custody, while efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the network.
