

Narendra Modi's visit to Indonesia marked a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties, with both nations reaching a series of strategic understandings across defence, trade, technology, and maritime cooperation. Among the major developments, Indonesia is expected to procure India's Astra air-to-air missiles, while both countries also agreed to deepen defence collaboration and expand cooperation in maritime security. India will also extend technical support for the development of Indonesia's electronic voting systems.
The two countries also agreed to enhance cooperation in the steel, nickel, and rare earth sectors, paving the way for increased Indian investments. Discussions also focused on the joint development of Sabang Port near the strategically important Strait of Malacca, aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and maritime logistics. In addition, both sides signed multiple memorandums of understanding covering defence, commerce, and strategic cooperation, reflecting their shared commitment to expanding long-term bilateral relations.
