The Centre has reportedly taken a key decision regarding the security arrangements at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. According to the information available, the Union Home Ministry has directed the complete withdrawal of CISF personnel deployed at the plant, with a three-month deadline reportedly set for the process.
The remaining CISF personnel are expected to be withdrawn by November 17. Around 1,500 CISF personnel were reportedly deployed at the steel plant until 2024, after which the withdrawal of forces began in phases. At present, around 350 security personnel and 120 fire safety personnel are reportedly working at the plant.
The reported decision to withdraw the remaining personnel has raised concerns over the future security arrangements at the steel plant. Trade unions and employees have expressed apprehension over the Centre’s move and its possible impact on the safety and security of the facility.
