BJP Telangana state president N. Ramchander Rao has said there was no political angle behind the denial of political clearance for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s proposed visit to the United States. Speaking to the media at the BJP state office on Friday, he said the clearance was denied only due to rules and technical considerations and criticised Congress leaders for creating unnecessary controversy.
Ramchander Rao said the Ministry of External Affairs carefully examines the necessity of foreign visits, security concerns and international protocol when constitutional authorities travel abroad. He cited the Centre’s decision to deny former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s foreign visit during the UPA government and questioned whether Congress leaders had forgotten the incident. He also alleged that the Congress had earlier opposed Narendra Modi’s visa when he was Gujarat Chief Minister.
On medical fees, Ramchander Rao demanded that private medical colleges immediately refund excess amounts collected from students. He alleged that students were being burdened with an additional ₹13 lakh to ₹20 lakh through fee collection in five instalments for four-and-a-half-year courses. He urged the Health Secretary and Director of Medical Education to intervene and warned that the BJP would launch a major agitation if the issue was not resolved.
