Neeraj Chopra delivered a strong performance at the Lausanne Diamond League, recording a season-best 88.05m throw to finish second in the men’s javelin event. The Indian star briefly moved to the top of the standings with his impressive second-round effort, but Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage reclaimed the lead with an 88.14m throw.
Pathirage eventually secured the title, while Grenada’s Anderson Peters completed the podium with a best effort of 86.69m. Neeraj could not improve his mark in the remaining attempts and finished second after registering a foul in his fourth throw and 82.15m in his final attempt.
The result adds another strong performance to Neeraj’s impressive Lausanne record. He won the event in 2022 with 89.08m and defended the title in 2023 with 87.66m before finishing runner-up in 2024 with 89.49m. His 88.05m effort in Lausanne also marked his first 88m-plus throw of the season.
