Rare Saptamukha Anjaneya Temple
Hanuman temples are found across the country, but temples where Lord Hanuman is worshipped in a seven-faced form are considered rare. One such temple is located near Parigi in Vikarabad district, around 70 kilometres from Hyderabad. Situated amid forests and hills, the Saptamukha Anjaneya Swamy temple attracts devotees seeking a peaceful spiritual experience.
According to traditional beliefs, remembering Hanuman is associated with qualities such as wisdom, strength, courage, fearlessness and eloquence. The temple’s Saptamukha form is therefore regarded as particularly significant by devotees.
Temple History and Beliefs
The temple is said to have a history of around 200 years. Local temple traditions associate the surrounding region with the period of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana. Devotees believe that the area was once visited by the divine trio during the Treta Yuga.
The main deity is a majestic seven-faced form of Anjaneya Swamy. One of the distinctive features of the temple is the sandalwood paste decoration offered to all seven faces of the deity. The temple’s setting amid nature adds to its spiritual appeal.
Sacred Pushkarini and Water
A Pushkarini is located within the temple premises. Devotees traditionally believe that taking a bath in its water and offering prayers to the deity brings spiritual purification and relief from difficulties. A stream flowing through the area is associated with the Pushkarini and is believed by devotees to remain active even during summer.
According to local beliefs, devotees collect the water and take it home for religious purposes. Traditional stories also connect the area with the penance of the Saptarishis, who are believed to have received blessings and protection from Hanuman.
How to Reach
The temple can be reached from Hyderabad on the route towards Parigi, near Rangapur village. Road and bus connectivity are available towards the region. Surrounded by greenery and hills, the temple offers devotees an opportunity to explore a distinctive Hanuman shrine while experiencing the natural beauty of the area.
