External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has responded to the Centre’s decision to deny permission for Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s proposed visit to the United States. Speaking at a media briefing in Delhi, Jaiswal said the Ministry examines the details of foreign visits by chief ministers and other prominent officials before granting clearance. He said the purpose of the visit must be in line with the responsibilities and objectives of the office held by the dignitary.
Jaiswal clarified that Revanth Reddy had received approval for his visit to the United Kingdom, but the proposed US visit did not meet the prescribed requirements. He said permission was therefore denied for the US trip. The MEA spokesperson maintained that decisions regarding foreign travel clearances are taken after examining the relevant details and applicable rules.
