Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has been receiving widespread appreciation for his strict enforcement of regulations. He has conducted inspections across restaurants, eateries and food establishments, taking action over unhygienic conditions and expired products. Asked whether he would enter politics, Mundhe gave a direct response, saying he has no such plans. He described himself as a straightforward person who speaks openly and said he was unsure whether such qualities would suit politics.
Mundhe also said that he prefers challenging himself rather than seeking external challenges. Within just three months of taking charge of the Maharashtra FDA, his department carried out thousands of inspections, seized products worth a substantial amount and suspended the licences of several establishments. Known for his tough administrative approach, Mundhe said he had been transferred nearly 25 times during his 21-year career. When asked which chief minister was his favourite, he jokingly replied that all of them were his favourites.
