The number of domestic air passengers in India increased in the last financial year, in line with market expectations. Rising travel demand has given a boost to the aviation sector. Rating agency ICRA had projected growth between 0 and 3 percent. As expected, the sector recorded a 1.4 percent increase during the year.
Domestic airlines carried a total of 167.7 million passengers to various destinations. In the previous financial year, the number stood at 165.4 million passengers. In March this year alone, domestic passenger traffic rose by 1 percent to 14.7 million. Experts believe the growth trend may continue in the coming months.
