Divorced but Never Stopped Loving Her: Sanjay Gupta's Love Story

The reported death of Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Gupta after he slipped in a bathroom has left the film industry in mourning. He is survived by his wife, Anuradha Lekhi Gupta, and their two children. Sanjay and Anuradha had a love marriage, but their relationship went through several ups and downs. The couple separated six years after their wedding and reunited six years later. In an earlier interview, Sanjay revealed that circumstances arising from a misunderstanding involving people linked to the underworld had indirectly contributed to their divorce.

After dating Anuradha for two-and-a-half years, Sanjay married her in 1997. However, differences between them led to their divorce in 2003. Despite the separation, Sanjay said he could not forget her and wanted to win her back. The couple eventually remarried in 2009. Recalling the reasons behind their separation, Sanjay said he had developed misunderstandings with certain people linked to the underworld and had to make phone calls from a friend's flat for some time. He kept this arrangement from Anuradha out of concern for her safety, but his inability to explain where he was going led her to suspect that he was having an affair. His career and financial struggles at the time further strained their relationship. Sanjay said he continued supporting Anuradha and her family even after their divorce, which eventually helped rebuild their relationship.
