The High Court has taken up a hearing on the issue of setting up stalls on pedestrian pathways beneath metro stations. A petition was filed challenging the leasing of footpath areas for commercial stalls, raising concerns over public space usage.
The court questioned how pedestrian pathways can be leased or rented for commercial purposes. It also directed GHMC and HMDA/HRML authorities to submit a report on the actions taken regarding the complaint.
