Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reviewed the state’s preparedness in view of the depression over the Bay of Bengal and the possibility of it intensifying into a cyclone. He held a review meeting with Chief Secretary Sai Prasad and officials from the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS). The Chief Minister directed officials to remain alert and issue advance advisories to the public. Officials informed him that the weather system over the east-central Bay of Bengal could strengthen into a cyclone, bringing heavy to extremely heavy rainfall to coastal Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday and Wednesday.
With strong winds expected along the coast, the Chief Minister instructed officials to take steps to prevent fishermen from venturing into the sea. He also directed the administration to alert residents of low-lying colonies in areas likely to be affected by the storm. Chandrababu Naidu stressed the need to ensure that emergency assistance and public information are readily accessible, and asked officials to make toll-free numbers available for people seeking help or updates. The government is focusing on preparedness and timely communication to minimise risks to lives and property.
