The High Court expressed serious concern over alleged encroachment of 74.16 acres of government land in Survey No.126 at Injapur in Abdullapurmet mandal of Rangareddy district. The court observed that officials meant to protect public property were instead supporting encroachers. It made it clear that the judiciary would not remain a silent spectator if authorities continued to mislead courts and compromise public assets. Invoking its powers under Article 226, the court directed a thorough investigation by the CBCID and asked the DGP to ensure submission of a detailed report within three months.
During the hearing, the court noted that most of the land, except 1.1 acres of canal area, had been encroached upon, with illegal constructions including apartments, agricultural use, public facilities, and layouts. The judge criticized the district administration for failing to provide clear details on land allocation and for attempting to divert the issue. The court also directed action against concerned officials, including the then tahsildar and village officers, and instructed the Revenue Department to submit a compliance report. The case was filed by advocate Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy.
