Bhatti Vikramarka Calls for Hutti Gold Mines–Singareni Joint Venture in Gold Mining

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Finance & Energy Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has directed Singareni officials to explore possibilities for a joint venture with Karnataka government-owned Hutti Gold Mines. He said combining Hutti’s expertise in gold exploration, mining, processing and refining with Singareni’s technical capabilities in mineral exploration and mining could help improve domestic gold production. During the second day of his visit to Karnataka’s gold mining areas, Bhatti visited the Hutti and UT gold mines in Raichur district and reviewed the processes involved from ore extraction to refined gold production.

Bhatti instructed Singareni officials to prepare an action plan for collaboration in gold exploration, extraction, processing, refining, modern technology, expert services and human-resource training. He emphasised that gold plays an important role in the country’s economic security and said public-sector organisations should take the lead in scientifically exploring India’s gold resources. During the visit, he inspected Hutti’s production unit, mineral processing plant and electrowinning facility, besides observing open-cast and underground mining operations at the UT mine. Officials explained the mining, transportation, machinery and worker-safety procedures and said the Hutti project produces an average of two to four kilograms of gold per day.
