The recent death of eight lions in Gujarat’s Gir Wildlife Sanctuary has raised serious concern among wildlife enthusiasts. Initial reports suspected a Babesia infection, leading to widespread alarm about a possible disease outbreak.
However, after laboratory investigations, officials confirmed that the deaths were caused by severe heatstroke due to extreme temperatures. Gujarat Forest Minister Arjun Modhwadia officially clarified that there was no viral or infectious disease involved, bringing relief to wildlife authorities.
