The Telangana government has proposed new building regulations to improve road safety and traffic flow at road junctions, particularly in the Greater Hyderabad region. Under the draft CURE (Core Urban Region Economy) Bill 2026, buildings located at the corners of intersections may be required to have rounded or chamfered edges instead of sharp 90 degree corners to improve visibility for motorists.
The proposed rules will apply to existing buildings, under construction structures, future projects, and buildings undergoing renovation. Municipal Commissioners will have the authority, with the approval of the Standing Committee, to order modifications to building corners, compound walls, fencing, hedges, and trees if required for public safety. The draft also mandates street lighting on every residential road, while ensuring compensation for property owners affected by such changes.
