The Rare Narasimha Temple in Telangana That Holds Many Mysteries

The Shodashabahu Ashtamukha Ugra Narasimha Swamy Temple is located at Kotla Narsimhulapalle in Gangadhara Mandal, in the Karimnagar region of Telangana. The temple is regarded as an ancient and significant Narasimha shrine. According to local temple traditions, the deity is worshipped in a rare form featuring multiple faces and sixteen arms, carrying various weapons associated with Lord Narasimha.

The temple complex is also known for several distinctive features. It is considered a Harihara Kshetra because shrines associated with Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva are present in the same परिसर. Another notable feature is the shrine of Sita and Rama, where Lakshmana is depicted in the form of Adishesha on a single stone. The temple also has a natural sacred pond and shrines dedicated to Annapurna Devi, Vijaya Ganapati, Nandikeshwara and Prasanna Anjaneya. According to tradition, daily worship follows Agama practices, with special Tirumanjanam services on Swati and Punarvasu nakshatras and annual Brahmotsavams held around Chaitra Purnima. The temple is around 30 km from Karimnagar and can be reached by bus from the city.
