Centre Enforces Tough Law Against Paper Leaks

President Droupadi Murmu has given her assent to the Public Examinations (Amendment) Act, 2026, aimed at preventing paper leaks and malpractices in government recruitment and entrance examinations. The new law strengthens measures to ensure transparency and fairness in public examinations.

Under the Act, those found guilty can face 5 to 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine of up to ₹50 lakh. Organised examination related crimes may attract a minimum of 7 years in jail and fines up to ₹10 crore. The law also provides for special fast-track courts and a Special Task Force to ensure investigations are completed within two months and trials within three months.
