BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has raised questions over the Centre’s proposed privatisation of IDBI Bank. Emphasising the importance of public sector banks, he stated that these institutions are national assets and should be protected. He questioned the government’s approach to the disinvestment process and expressed concerns over the reported bids being lower than the reserve price.
KTR also sought clarification on why the bidding conditions were changed despite the reported offers falling below the reserve price. He questioned whether the actual value of IDBI Bank’s assets had been properly assessed and whether the concerns raised by the bank’s employees had been taken into account. His remarks have brought renewed attention to the proposed privatisation and the broader debate over the future of public sector banks.
