Leading FMCG company Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has increased the prices of its soap products due to rising raw material and packaging costs. Popular brands such as Liril, Pears, and Dove have seen a price hike of ₹2–3 per 100 grams, reflecting an increase of around 3–5 percent. With the latest revision, Liril is now priced at ₹41, Pears at ₹42, Dove Serum Soap at ₹60, and Dove Pink Soap at ₹70. Other products, including Surf and Red Label, have also been impacted.
The company stated that the price hike is driven by a sharp rise in the cost of key raw materials such as Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD), along with supply chain disruptions, higher transportation, and fuel costs. Fluctuations in palm oil and crude prices, coupled with geopolitical tensions in West Asia, have further pushed up input costs. HUL clarified that while prices have been increased for select products, efforts have been made to minimize the burden on consumers.
