Bharti Airtel is expanding its growth strategy by focusing on financial services, data centres, and cloud computing. In the company's latest annual report, Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said Airtel Money has already been recognised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as a non deposit taking NBFC and has been adequately capitalised. He also announced plans to establish 1,000 MW data centres under the Nxtra brand over the next few years.
Mittal said increasing digitalisation, cloud adoption, and data localisation are creating significant growth opportunities. Airtel has already signed agreements with 24 companies for cloud services. He added that investments in India's data centre sector could reach ₹18 lakh crore this year. Over the past decade, Airtel has invested ₹3.3 lakh crore in digital infrastructure, while its 5G customer base has grown to 188 million.
