Sundar Pichai Breaks Silence: “AI Bubble Could Hit Everyone — Even Google!”
Google CEO Sundar Pichai has addressed the rising concerns about a possible AI bubble and its impact on the tech industry. According to reports, Pichai stated that no company in the world—including Google—is completely safe if the AI bubble bursts. This is the first time Google has openly admitted that the massive investments flowing into AI may not always bring positive returns, and inflated valuations could lead to a crash.
Recently, the term AI bubble has been widely discussed. With investors—both private and institutional—pumping huge money into AI, hundreds of startups have secured massive funding. Many analysts warn that this trend looks risky.
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon recently said that the rise in the US stock market is not sustainable and that some money invested in AI will be lost.
In his BBC interview on Tuesday, Pichai shared similar views. He said that the market shows elements of irrationality, similar to the dot-com bubble of 2000. However, he also mentioned that despite bad investments, the long-term impact of AI will be significant.
When asked if big companies like Google are immune to a possible AI crash, Pichai replied:
“No company is going to be immune, including us.”
However, he added that Google might withstand the impact better because it controls everything from infrastructure to product delivery.
Pichai also discussed AI hallucinations, where AI models generate false or made-up information.
He admitted that AI can make mistakes, and people should not blindly believe everything a chatbot says.
He advised users to verify important information using other reliable sources and learn how to use AI tools correctly:
“People must learn to use these tools for what they are good at, and not blindly trust everything they say,” he said.
