Valve Corporation is reportedly developing an AI powered tool called “SteamGPT” for its popular PC gaming platform Steam. According to reports, this tool could assist users with platform support and improve anti-cheat measures in games like Counter Strike 2. Information about SteamGPT was discovered through data mining of Steam’s code, although Valve has not officially confirmed its development.
The feature was reportedly uncovered by Gabe Follower, a known data miner, who shared screenshots indicating that SteamGPT may also be linked to user trust scores and anti-cheat systems. If introduced, the AI based feature is expected to first roll out in a beta version. Valve continues to update its platform regularly, with recent changes including a redesigned Steam store homepage for better navigation and improved user experience.
Earlier this year, Valve updated its guidelines regarding the disclosure of AI usage in game development. Developers are required to disclose AI use on game pages, although certain built-in tools may not need to be declared. Additionally, the latest beta update introduced features like infinite scrolling, wishlist sections, and downloadable content visibility. Valve is also planning to launch new devices, including a hybrid gaming system, a virtual reality headset, and a new controller, which are expected to arrive in 2026.
