Samsung may have quietly begun integrating Perplexity’s AI platform into its Bixby voice assistant. Several users have reported that when they ask Bixby complex questions, the assistant now routes these queries to Perplexity’s answer engine and displays a small Perplexity icon along with web sources. This feature has been spotted on Galaxy S25 series devices running the One UI 8.5 beta, even though earlier reports suggested the integration would debut with the Galaxy S26 lineup next year.
A post on X by user @achultra, shared by SamMobile, showed a screenshot stating that Bixby can now use Perplexity to handle complicated questions. However, the feature does not appear to be widely available yet and seems limited to select beta users. Samsung is likely testing the integration ahead of the stable One UI 8.5 release.
Details about the depth of this integration remain unclear. It appears similar to how Apple’s Siri uses ChatGPT for advanced queries, but it is unknown whether Bixby users will gain access to Perplexity’s advanced tools, model selection, or subscription-linked features. Samsung and Perplexity have been linked in reports throughout the year, with speculation about a broader partnership. In October, Samsung also introduced a standalone Perplexity app for its smart TVs, indicating a growing collaboration between the two companies.
