BYD’s New Flash Charge Technology Promises Ultra-Fast EV Charging

BYD has introduced its latest Flash Charge technology, aiming to address one of the biggest concerns associated with electric vehicles: long charging times. The technology works with the company’s second-generation Blade Battery and is designed to deliver much faster charging than conventional EV systems. According to BYD, compatible electric vehicles can charge from 10% to 97% in around nine minutes.

The company also claims that the battery can reach approximately 70% charge in just five minutes. Such charging speeds could make EVs more convenient for long-distance travel by reducing the time drivers need to spend at charging stations. If widely adopted, the technology could help bring EV charging closer to the convenience of a quick refuelling stop and further accelerate the transition toward electric mobility.
