Motorola announced two major artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 in Las Vegas. The company unveiled a unified AI platform called Qira, which retains context and memory across devices manufactured under both Motorola and Lenovo brands. Additionally, Motorola showcased a proof - of - concept wearable device called Project Maxwell, marking its entry into the AI - powered companion device space. The company also introduced its first book-style foldable phone, the razr fold.
According to a press release, Motorola detailed its Lenovo Tech World showcase and AI-focused announcements. The Qira platform merges Lenovo and Motorola’s existing AI technologies into a single cross - device solution. Previously, both companies relied on separate AI assistants — Lenovo with AI Now and Motorola with moto AI — which created gaps where users could not transfer context, chats, or personalization across devices. Qira solves this problem by becoming the sole AI platform for both brands, ensuring a consistent user experience across the Lenovo-Motorola ecosystem. The platform leverages partnerships with major industry players, including Microsoft Copilot, Google, Qualcomm, Intel, and Perplexity AI, combining on-device and cloud - assisted capabilities. It is designed to remember context, anticipate user needs, and respond more fluidly than existing siloed assistants.
Motorola also showcased Project Maxwell: AI Perceptive Companion, a prototype wearable device designed to extend Qira’s intelligence into everyday life without requiring a phone. Developed by Motorola’s 312 Labs team, the device is always accessible and context-aware, using cameras, microphones, and sensors to perceive the user’s surroundings and provide real - time insights or suggestions. Project Maxwell integrates multimodal perception fusion, processing and combining visual and audio data simultaneously. Users can interact with it using natural language prompts, and its context-aware capabilities allow it to not only answer queries but also take actions based on instructions. The device is not yet production - ready, and Motorola has not specified a launch timeline.
