

India Post has announced a major recruitment drive for 23,757 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) vacancies across various postal circles in the country. The One-Time Registration (OTR) process began on August 31 and will remain open until September 19. Eligible candidates can submit their online applications from September 2 to September 21. Applicants will also be allowed to correct errors in their applications on September 23 and 24. The application fee is ₹100, while women, SC/ST candidates and persons with disabilities are exempt from paying the fee. Applications can be submitted through the official India Post GDS recruitment portal.
There will be no written examination for the Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak positions. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their Class 10 marks, with Mathematics, English and the local language being mandatory subjects. Applicants must also have basic computer knowledge and know how to ride a bicycle. The BPM posts carry a TRCA slab of ₹12,000 to ₹29,380, while ABPM/Dak Sevak positions offer ₹10,000 to ₹24,470. The basic age requirement is 18 to 40 years, with relaxations available for reserved categories and persons with disabilities. Across the two Telugu states, the Andhra Pradesh Postal Circle has 917 vacancies and Telangana has 419. Selected candidates are generally required to work for around four hours a day and may receive incentives for India Post Payments Bank services. The department will provide devices such as computers, laptops or smartphones for official duties, while candidates are required to reside near the concerned post office.
