US-based AI services company Innodata has reportedly laid off nearly 550 employees in India, leaving hundreds of workers shocked. The development is said to have taken place on October 26, 2026. According to affected employees, they returned from their lunch break to find that their laptop sessions had been logged out, employee IDs deactivated and access to the company's internal systems revoked. Some workers alleged that they had not received any prior individual communication from the Human Resources department about the decision.
Several employees claimed that they received termination emails only after losing access to their work accounts. The company reportedly attributed the layoffs to reduced business requirements and clarified that the decision was not linked to individual employee performance. The sudden job losses have raised concerns among affected workers and renewed the debate over whether companies should be required to provide employees with advance notice before carrying out large-scale layoffs.
