Incidents of e-rickshaws being remotely switched off using mobile applications have sparked concern in Delhi. Videos circulating on social media show individuals using a Chinese app called BAT-BMS to disable vehicles. By connecting to the battery management system via Bluetooth and activating the discharge switch, the vehicles are brought to a halt. Similar incidents have reportedly occurred using another app, Epoch Li-ion.
These developments have raised serious concerns among EV drivers, dealers, and users. Despite the presence of passwords and authentication measures, the misuse of such features is evident. The Delhi government has taken the issue seriously and launched an investigation. Transport Minister Pankaj Singh stated that the matter is under review. Officials clarified that these apps were originally designed to monitor battery voltage and temperature.
