The OnePlus 16 is expected to make its official debut later this year as the successor to the OnePlus 15. According to a recent leak from China, OnePlus is working with BOE on a customised X4 light-emitting material for the upcoming smartphone’s display. The new material is reportedly more power-efficient than the X3 material used in the OnePlus 15 and could potentially offer up to twice the lifespan of the previous-generation panel. The display is also tipped to feature slimmer bezels on all four sides and a flat design.
Tipster Digital Chat Station has further claimed that internal testing suggests the X4 panel performs better than Samsung’s M-series luminescent material in several aspects. The OnePlus 16 is also rumoured to feature an 185Hz refresh rate and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. The base variant is reportedly expected to cost around CNY 4,999, or approximately ₹71,000, with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. These specifications, however, remain unconfirmed until OnePlus makes an official announcement.
