Apple is reportedly preparing a major overhaul of Siri with a new privacy-focused feature that could automatically delete user conversations with the AI assistant. According to reports, users may soon get options to erase Siri chats after 30 days or one year, while also having the ability to store conversations permanently if desired. The feature is expected to be unveiled during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) as part of the company’s broader artificial intelligence strategy. Apple is reportedly positioning the revamped Siri as a more privacy-conscious alternative to AI rivals such as OpenAI and Google.
The development comes amid growing tensions between Apple and OpenAI. The two companies partnered during WWDC 2024 to integrate ChatGPT into Siri and Apple Intelligence features. However, reports suggest that OpenAI is now considering legal action against Apple over concerns that the partnership failed to deliver the expected commercial and strategic benefits. Apple is also said to be exploring deeper integration with Google’s Gemini AI for future Siri upgrades, a move that has reportedly disappointed OpenAI. Industry analysts believe Apple will heavily emphasize privacy as a key selling point in its upcoming AI ecosystem rollout.
