Anthropic Suspends Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI Models Amid Security Concerns

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has suspended access to its newly launched AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, following concerns over potential security vulnerabilities. According to international media reports, researchers identified issues that could allow certain safeguards within the models to be bypassed, raising concerns about possible misuse of the technology.

Reports indicate that Amazon researchers conducted tests on the Fable 5 model and discovered software vulnerabilities using specialized prompts. The findings were reportedly brought to the attention of U.S. authorities, who expressed concerns that cybercriminals could exploit such capabilities to identify weaknesses in software systems and facilitate hacking activities. In response, restrictions were reportedly imposed on access to these advanced AI models for foreign nationals. Anthropic later announced that services for Fable 5 and Mythos 5 would be suspended for all users while the issues are addressed.
