Fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) major Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) reported a consolidated net profit of ₹2,796 crore for the second quarter ended September. This represents a marginal increase compared with the ₹2,791 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The company said the limited growth in net profit was partly due to a one time tax benefit of ₹273 crore that had boosted its profit in the same quarter last year. Excluding the impact of this benefit, the year-on-year comparison provides a clearer picture of the company’s performance.
HUL’s total income during the quarter rose by 14.44% to ₹18,386 crore, reflecting growth in its overall business revenue. Revenue from the sale of products increased by 14.77%, rising from ₹15,715 crore in the year-ago quarter to ₹18,037 crore in the quarter under review. While consolidated net profit remained broadly stable, the increase in total income and product sales revenue highlights the company’s stronger revenue performance during the period. The figures relate to the quarter ended September.
