A new study by Anthropic has revealed that people do not prioritize creative abilities in artificial intelligence. Conducted across 159 countries with over 80,500 participants, the research used the company’s Interviewer tool to understand what users expect from AI and what concerns them the most. Creative expression was the least desired skill, with only 5.6 percent of respondents mentioning it.
The survey found that professional excellence and personal transformation were the top priorities, cited by 18.8 percent and 13.7 percent of participants respectively. Other sought after benefits included life management, time freedom, and financial independence. When asked where AI has delivered on its promise, productivity topped the list, followed by cognitive partnership, learning, and technical accessibility, while emotional support ranked last.
Concerns about AI were also highlighted. Participants cited unreliability, job and economic impact, autonomy and agency, misinformation, and malicious use as major worries. Country-specific opinions varied, with India, Brazil, and Israel showing mostly positive attitudes, France, Japan, and the US showing mixed opinions, and Germany, South Korea, and the UK displaying predominantly negative sentiments.
