Amazing New Feature Coming to Google Photos.. Here It Is!

Google Photos may soon make location-based photo searches more convenient with a new map option for Ask Photos. The feature was reportedly discovered in a test version of the app and could allow users to explore photos based on where they were captured.

According to a report by Android Authority, the Map option was spotted in Google Photos version 7.89.0.966319819. Ask Photos currently allows users to search for photos and videos using natural language, including content associated with locations through photo metadata. The reported feature could display those results geographically instead of showing them only in the regular grid format.

The map is expected to group photos from nearby locations into numbered clusters. The number displayed on each cluster could indicate how many photos are associated with that particular area. Users may be able to zoom into different locations, select a cluster and open the photos linked to it. A refresh option could also be provided to reset the map view.

The feature could be particularly useful for browsing holiday and travel photos. Instead of scrolling through a large collection, users could explore their memories based on the places where the photos were captured.

Google Photos already offers a map-based experience through the Places section under Collections. The reported addition could bring a similar location-based browsing experience directly into Ask Photos and make location searches more visual.

However, the feature is reportedly still unfinished and has not been officially announced by Google. There is also no confirmation about when it could become available to users. Since the feature was discovered in a test build, Google could modify it or decide not to release it publicly.
