Rahul Gandhi Backs Kriti Sanon Amid Raksha Bandhan Ad Controversy

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has come out in support of actress Kriti Sanon amid the controversy surrounding her Raksha Bandhan advertisement. Responding to the criticism and online trolling directed at women over their clothing choices, Gandhi said that women should have complete freedom to decide what they wear, what they do and where they go. Kriti Sanon had earlier responded strongly to the criticism, stating that the essence of festivals lies in love, affection and relationships rather than in the clothes a person wears. Her sister and actress Nupur Sanon also criticised the trolls, questioning why others were offended by Kriti’s outfit when it did not bother her own family. The advertisement had also drawn criticism from actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, who questioned whether such attire was appropriate for a traditional Indian festival. Kriti responded by questioning when society would stop telling women what they should wear.
