Shreyas Iyer’s India Continue Winning Run Against Afghanistan

India produced a dominant performance against Afghanistan in the second T20I. Chasing a target of 160 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, India reached the target in just 14.5 overs, losing three wickets in the process. Shreyas Iyer’s side secured a convincing seven-wicket victory, with Sanju Samson scoring 57 off 22 balls, Abhishek Sharma making 39 off 19 and Ishan Kishan remaining unbeaten on 38 off 23. Nitish Kumar Reddy was also instrumental with the ball, taking 3/24.

India captain Shreyas Iyer expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and consecutive victories. He said the side wanted to respond strongly after the previous match and praised the players for delivering as expected. Reflecting on his early captaincy struggles, Iyer said difficult phases are part of cricket and that adapting to circumstances is important. With the team enjoying a winning run, he indicated that players who have not yet featured in the playing XI could get an opportunity in the next match, with possible changes to the team combination as well.
