Young Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan has openly expressed his disappointment over not being considered for selection to the national team. Currently representing Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, Sarfaraz spoke about his frustration after the first day of the match against Railways. Despite performing well in domestic cricket, he feels that he has not received the opportunities he hoped for. His disappointment reportedly intensified after he was left out of the India A squad for the recent tour of New Zealand. Speaking about his struggles, Sarfaraz said that he often questions himself every morning about why he should continue working hard and whom he is doing it for. He also recalled facing criticism about his weight and explained that he worked on his fitness during the off-season, losing 22 kilograms. However, even after the transformation, some people reminded him that he had performed better when he was heavier.
Sarfaraz added that he does not allow such comments to affect him and believes he can continue playing for Mumbai with consistent effort. He said that watching his father, Naushad Khan, work hard motivates him to perform on the field. Sarfaraz made it clear that he would not chase selection opportunities. If the selectors choose him, he will represent India; otherwise, he will continue playing domestic cricket as long as he has the patience and motivation. So far, Sarfaraz has played six Test matches for India, scoring 371 runs, including one century. In first-class cricket, he has featured in 66 matches and scored 5,354 runs, with 18 centuries.
