The BCCI has extended the deadline for IPL franchises to submit their player retention lists by two days. The original deadline of November 15 has now been moved to November 17, with the board officially informing the franchises on Monday. The extension is expected to give teams additional time to review their retention and release decisions ahead of the IPL mini-auction scheduled to take place in Goa on December 16.
The extension is reportedly linked to the fifth and final ODI between India and New Zealand, scheduled to be played at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on November 15. Meanwhile, India are also scheduled to face Sri Lanka in the second ODI at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium on December 16, the same day as the IPL auction. The BCCI has not yet announced any change to the ODI schedule. The player registration process began on Monday and will remain open until November 23. Franchises must submit their final lists of players they wish to bid for by December 1, while the BCCI will release the final auction register, including the order of player sets, on December 3.
