HYDRA officials have launched an operation to remove alleged encroachments within the Full Tank Level (FTL) limits of Fox Sagar Lake in Hyderabad. As part of the drive, officials removed unauthorised compound walls and gates constructed within the lake’s FTL and buffer zone areas. The compound wall and gate of a farmhouse belonging to former minister Mallareddy were also demolished. Officials reportedly identified a compound wall built after filling land within nearly 15 acres of the lake’s FTL area in Survey No. 124 of Doolapally village. The action was taken as part of efforts to clear structures found within the lake’s protected boundaries.
HYDRA also took action against a bund reportedly constructed over a stretch of around half a kilometre inside the lake area. The compound wall built alongside the bund for the farmhouse was removed. In a separate operation, officials demolished a compound wall allegedly constructed within nearly 20 acres of the lake’s FTL area in Survey Nos. 41 and 42 under the Jeedimetla limits. Supreme Court advocate Saurab Raj Verma reportedly attempted to stop the demolition drive. However, officials continued the operation after pointing out the FTL boundaries of Fox Sagar Lake. The drive is part of HYDRA’s efforts to identify and remove encroachments within the lake’s FTL and buffer zones.
