In a major blow to cricket fans worldwide, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially announced that Pakistan will not play against India in the upcoming T20 World Cup. According to the tournament schedule, the high-voltage clash between the arch-rivals was slated for the 15th of this month at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. However, the Pakistan government has taken a firm stand against participating in the match. While Pakistan had previously suggested playing at neutral venues, the latest stance marks a complete withdrawal from the fixture. Speaking at a cabinet meeting in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz Sharif stated: "We have taken a very clear decision not to play against India in the T20 World Cup. Politics should not be involved in sports, and we believe we have made the right move."ICC's Reaction The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly expressed its disappointment over the decision. Labeling the move as "against the spirit of the game," the ICC emphasized that such boycotts disrupt the integrity of global tournaments. Despite the pressure from the cricketing body, Pakistan remains steadfast in its decision, leaving the fate of one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament in uncertainty.
