Massive Boost for Indian Sports...Centre Allocates Huge Funds for Khelo India

The Union Cabinet has approved an outlay of ₹36,441 crore for the revamped Khelo India Scheme and financial assistance to National Sports Federations (NSFs) for the period 2026–27 to 2030–31. The initiative aims to strengthen India's sporting ecosystem and transform the country into a global sporting powerhouse by identifying and nurturing young talent.

According to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, India has already established 1,067 Khelo India Centres, 267 accredited academies, and 349 sports infrastructure projects, with an investment of ₹3,176 crore. More than 2,745 athletes are receiving coaching, equipment, medical support, and monthly stipends. Since 2018, over 63,000 athletes have participated in Khelo India Games. The government also highlighted India's 39 medal haul and fourth place finish at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games as evidence of the country's growing sporting success.
