The brutal attack on a Class 10 girl at a school in Raptadu, Anantapur district, has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about student safety in educational institutions. The accused, identified as Hemanth, allegedly entered the classroom and attacked the girl with an electric saw. The incident has triggered intense discussions on social media, with several users debating the possible influence of violent films and video games on children and young people. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal has also come under scrutiny, with some social media users drawing comparisons between a scene in the movie, where the protagonist takes a gun to a college to confront those who ragged his sister, and the Raptadu incident.
Responding to the criticism on X, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga said victims of such horrific crimes deserve sympathy and support, and that society should focus on understanding the circumstances behind such incidents rather than blaming films. He criticised those using the tragedy to target movies for personal or professional reasons, describing such reactions as opportunistic. Vanga stressed that a tragic incident calls for compassion, not attempts to turn it into an opportunity to attack others. Meanwhile, the director is working on Spirit, starring Prabhas as a police officer, with Triptii Dimri playing the female lead. The film is currently in production and is scheduled for release on October 29 next year.
